How We Camp
Camping is a tradition here in the Kauaian compound, and while you may have experiences and expectations of your own, you'll find our style closer to summer camp than roughing it in the woods. You will probably need to bring a lot less than you think in order to be comfortable.
Here's what to expect and what to prepare:
Families: Though we plan nothing risque, this is an adult event. We have no special accomodations or entertainment for small children and suggest that you take advantage of this opportunity to "unburden" yourself. If need to bring a preschooler, please let us know so we can
anticipate any special needs.
The Site: We are situated on a bluff overlooking a river valley. All the camping areas are flat and clear and require no additional preparation. Several large areas are tent or canopy covered for additional weather protection. Campsites are available on a first come basis.
Tents: You do not need more tent space than to accomodate your bed and possessions. We would be happy to store any extra luggage you don't need to maximize your comfort, but you will likely spend most of your time outside your tent. If you opt for a larger tent, you may be
required to set up in a designated area.
An air mattress or low cot is highly recommended. The weather is mild and you will be comfortable with a light sleeping bag or blankets.
If you don't want to transport your camping equipment, we have K-Mart, CostCo and Home Depot stores near the airport.
Amenities: There will be two 24 hour outdoor kitchens for the use of our guests, including keg service. There will also be several entertainment areas that will be noise-restricted after 10PM, so bring your ear buds and headphones.
Comforts: The campsite will have toilets and showers, of course. We're not uncivilized! If there is something special you require, let us know.
Packing: Camping is about getting dirty. There is no shame is wearing the same shirt for the entire week if you so desire- in fact, it's a badge of honor. Don't overpack. It will be warm in the daytime and no cooler at night than requires a sweatshirt. Swimwear would be a must.
If you have any tropical garb such as a sarong, paraea or aloha shirt, definitely pack it. We will have one dress-up night, but that means festive, not formal.
Transportation: Lest the entire grounds become a parking lot, we recommend that you allow us to pool you with other drivers or to provide shuttle service to a from your various destinations. Gas is as expensive here as anywhere in the country. To arrange for rides please post at the "Official Camporee Information" at trconnection.com.
See you in June!

Camera Policy PLEASE READ TO THE END- VERY IMPORTANT!
It would be silly to expect people not to bring cameras to a vacation event. However, in this age of instant distribution we have to establish some very strict rules about how you may use the pictures and video you capture. These rules are principally for the comfort of all the campers, but since there are performances and 'public personae' involved, other issues also come into play.
The first and foremost rule is inviolable and your attendance at the event signifies your acceptance of this restriction: You may not publish in any way shape or form what you photograph or record within the event grounds. This means-
* You may not post it on YouTube, MySpace, your own website or anywhere else on the internet
* You may not make copies for distribution or sale in any manner
* You and your family may enjoy what you've captured in your own home or on your own laptop only
The second and equally important rule: You may not video record the performance on June 22. We would appreciate your respecting this rule so we do not have to police the event for pirates. The performance will be recorded and if we feel that it's good enough, we will make it available to all the attendees at a later date.
Your presence within the campgrounds also signifies your acceptance that, since much of this event will be recorded in one form or another, you are likely to appear on camera and that you absolve the organizers of any liability arising from a third party's illegal exploitation of such images.
By attending the event you are acknowledging having been notified that videotaping will be taking place and are granting us a worldwide all-media perpetual release to include your image in any content derived from the videotaping.
Finally, we would like to have the opportunity to collect and share the many memorable moments that are sure to occur over the week. We will have a server set up for campers and organizers to pool and swap pictures and video. Contribution of your content to the pool will be an acknowledgement of your granting a gratis license to us to include contributed media in future published works, which will be governed by the same worldwide all-media perpetual release language as above.
Apologies for the high falutin' legaleze. We're trying to balance everyone's desire to capture the moment with reality. You'll be asked to sign a copy of this statement when you arrive to signify that you have read and understand it.
NOTE: We would very much like to capture as much HD video as we can. If you are thinking of getting a camera for the trip, we recommend you pick up one of the new consumer HD video cameras (try to get one that features 1080p resolution).
